Temple Sanctuary Renovations to Be Completed in
March
Renovations to the Temple Sanctuary and Worshiper’s
Path will be in process from late December through March. To ensure the
safety of our visitors and staff, these areas will be closed until work
is completed.
Following are the projects that will be undertaken
during this timeframe.
Recarpeting –removed carpeting will be salvaged
and several options are being considered to ensure it is reused.
Reupholstering pews, benches, and chairs.
Painting Sanctuary walls.
Replacing stained fabric walls on the Worshiper’s
Path.
Maintaining this magnificent, sacred space calls for
regularly scheduled carpeting, painting, and other material
refurbishments. This opportunity to complete several projects at one
time allowed the First Presidency, the Temple Sanctuary Renovation Team,
and design firm SFS Architecture to develop a holistic plan that honors
the importance of the Temple experience in the life and ministries of
the Community of Christ.
We have proceeded in our planning with great care over
the past year to ensure renovations enhance the Temple experience for
our members and friends. Costs will be met by the Temple Endowment Fund.
With each step in this process, we are grateful for the generosity of
contributors who have supported this fund for the upkeep of the Temple
and ongoing support for its ministries.
Plan your visit to experience the Temple. You are
always invited to come for a tour and to attend several major events
being hosted at International Headquarters in 2009 and 2010. Learn more
at www.CofChrist.org/visit/
and
www.CofChrist.org/events/. During renovations, we
continue to welcome visitors for modified tours and the Prayer for Peace
at the Temple each day as part of our mission to proclaim Jesus Christ
and promote communities of joy, hope, love, and peace.
Thank you for your understanding and all that you do
to share the peace of Jesus Christ.
