We greet you in the name of God who calls us to worship, and welcome you to this sacred place. Each day in this Temple dedicated to the pursuit of peace, we pray to God for peace in our world. In addition, each day we pray for a different country. Today we will remember the people of Haiti in our prayers. Located in the Caribbean, Haiti has been plagued by political violence for most of its history and it is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. Haiti’s poor majority has voiced frustration with the lack of tangible, sustained economic improvements in their lives, and international aid has been appropriated to create jobs. In January of this year, Haiti was struck by an earthquake registering at the catastrophic magnitude of 7.0 bringing down commercial and residential buildings causing death and destruction, and severely damaging the countries infrastructure. Relief efforts continue, but the people of Haiti have much to overcome. Community of Christ has been established in the Republic of Haiti since 1968, May the lighted peace candle represent our oneness in spirit as we present ourselves to God this day. |

The People Pray in Silence |

God of all persons, we praise you and worship you, and give thanks for our bountiful blessings. We also give thanks for your mighty works of peace throughout the world, and the peacemakers who persistently work for justice. |
The People Pray in Silence |
We confess our shortcomings, and ask your forgiveness for those times we have not been the persons you created us to be. Teach us of your ways, we pray. |
The People Pray in Silence |
We remember the lonely, the oppressed, the victims of greed, and those who have not. Help us be aware of times we can share our bounty, whether it is a kind word or material wealth. |
The People Pray in Silence |
We remember today our brothers and sisters in Haiti. May the peacemakers find justice and comfort as they seek peace for their people who are experiencing an overwhelming situation of disaster and pain. May the light of your Spirit illumine the way of love and peace and justice. |
