| Invitation | ||
Welcome today to this sacred place, and it is good to share in prayer and worship with you. Each day in this Temple dedicated to the pursuit of peace, we pray to God for peace in our world. In addition, each day we pray for a different country. Today we will remember the people of Trinidad and Tobago in our prayers. Tobago and Trinidad Islands are located between the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean. Trinidad and Tobago came under British control in the 19th century; independence was granted in 1962. The country is one of the most prosperous in the Caribbean thanks largely to petroleum and natural gas production and processing. In addition to oil and natural gas, Trinidad contains Pitch Lake, a huge asphalt deposit. Trinidad is a densely populated, thriving island with a cosmopolitan population and strong regional influences, while Tiny Tobago is relaxed, slow-paced and largely undeveloped. You have come here today expecting to be greeted by the Lord. Be assured that you will not be disappointed. The Lord has promised that we will not be turned away empty handed. |

Scripture Reading |
Romans 15:5-7 INT May God, the source of all strength and encouragement, enable you to live in perfect harmony with one another according to the Spirit of Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and one voice, you may praise the God of our Savior Jesus Christ. Accept one another as Christ accepted us, for the glory of God. |

Prayer for Peace |
| by Eula Stoynoff, Portland, Oregon Our God and Creator: We come humbly with thankful hearts, gratefully acknowledging your blessings and your love. As we sit peacefully in the safety of this place, forgive us if we have become self-satisfied and indifferent to the sufferings and despair in our world. Bring us back to the reality of purpose, to become a people of peace, reaching out with love and compassion. May this prayer be joined with those other prayers throughout the world, bringing people and nations together for peace. As the flame of the Peace Candle brightly burns, so may the spirit of peace and love be rekindled in the hearts of all people seeking peace. May your Spirit continue to guide us to that "perfect peace", we pray in the name of the Prince of Peace. Amen |

Prayers of the People |
| Please join us now, praying the Prayers of the People. During the moments of silence, you are invited to pray silently or meditate. | ||
O God, most of our blessings are like the stars in yonder sky. During the day we are aware they exist but are invisible. We thank God for these "showers of blessings." |
The People Pray in Silence |
The headlines of the morning newspapers bring disquieting news of disturbances and unrest throughout the world. We pray for a world that knows so little of peace, and we rejoice in the steps being taken throughout the world to create a peace that is stable and enduring. |
The People Pray in Silence |
We especially pray for the people of Trinidad and Tobago and their search for peace. Please be with them, and guide their leaders in your path of peace for all. |
The People Pray in Silence |
Many of us are aware of heartaches and disturbing news in lives of our family and neighbors. These same people are often the source of unbelievable joy for us. We pray God's ministry in their lives. |
The People Pray in Silence |
"As we love ourselves": so did our Lord teach us to love others. We pray that you will give us courage and guide us as we reach out in peace with wisdom and discernment. |
The People Pray in Silence |
Please use this space to pray for any current concern or event in our community, city, state, nation or world that you feel needs to be held up to God for prayerful consideration. |
The People Pray in Silence |
We give thanks to you, Sustainer of our lives, for the assurance that comes from you, for the hope that grows fresh and green in our hearts, for the faith that calls us into loving service. In Jesus Holy name we pray. Amen. |
